Privacy Policy
Effective October 9, 2026
- We store your email, a scrambled (hashed) version of your password, and the expenses, budgets and settings you enter.
- We never ask for bank or card details, and the app has no place to enter them.
- We don’t sell your data, show ads, or use tracking or analytics cookies.
- Delete your account in Settings and your data is deleted with it.
Who we are
Daily Receipts (“we”, “us”) is a simple expense log you use in your web browser at dailyreceipts.app. You can reach us at watsonkevin440@gmail.com.
What we collect
- Account details: your email address and your password. We never store your actual password, only a one-way hash of it (bcrypt).
- What you log: the expenses you type or speak (amount, a short description, a category and a date), plus any recurring expenses you set up.
- Income and bills (optional): if you choose to enter them in Income & bills, we store your income amounts, how often you’re paid and your next payday, plus your recurring bills (name, amount, how often, next due date and category). We use these only to show your summary, suggest a budget and list upcoming bills.
- Budgets and categories: your budget amounts and periods, your custom categories, and the words the app learns to match to your categories.
- Settings: things like your theme, time zone, and whether and when to send your end-of-day email.
- Sign-in and security data: sign-in sessions and, if you ask for one, a one-time password reset code. Both are stored in scrambled (hashed) form and expire.
We do not collect bank account numbers, card numbers, your location, your contacts, or receipt photos.
Voice input
When you tap the microphone, speech-to-text is done by your browser or device’s built-in speech recognition, not by our servers. Depending on your browser and device, your provider (for example Apple or Google) may process the audio on its own servers under its own privacy policy. We only receive the resulting text, and only once you send it. We never receive or store audio.
How we use your information
- To run the app: save and total your expenses, track budgets, and show your receipts and charts.
- To send the emails you ask for, such as your end-of-day receipt, budget alerts and password resets.
- To keep the service secure and working, for example by limiting repeated sign-in or reset attempts.
We don’t sell, rent or share your personal information for advertising, and we don’t use it to train AI models.
Who helps us run the service
- Railway hosts the app and its database on servers in the United States.
- Resend delivers our emails. It receives your email address and the content of the message being sent.
These providers process data only to provide their services to us. We may also disclose information if the law requires it, or to protect the safety and rights of users or the service.
Cookies
We use a single cookie to keep you signed in. It lasts up to 30 days, or until you log out. Your browser also stores your theme choice and an offline copy of the app’s files on your device. We don’t use advertising, tracking or analytics cookies.
How long we keep data
- We keep your data while your account exists.
- The database is backed up nightly, and each backup is deleted after 14 days.
- Password reset codes expire after 1 hour, and sign-in sessions after 30 days.
Deleting your account
You can delete your account at any time in Settings → Delete my account. This permanently deletes your account and everything in it, including your expenses, income, budgets, categories, recurring expenses and bills, settings and sign-ins. Copies inside the nightly backups disappear as those backups expire, within 14 days. You can also export your expenses to a CSV file before deleting.
Security
Connections use HTTPS, passwords are hashed, and sign-in cookies can’t be read by scripts. No system is perfectly secure, so please use a strong password that you don’t use anywhere else.
Children
Daily Receipts is not intended for children under 13, and we don’t knowingly collect information from them. If you believe a child under 13 has created an account, contact us and we will delete it.
Your choices and rights
You can view, edit, export and delete your data in the app at any time. Depending on where you live (for example, California), you may have additional rights to access or delete your personal information. Email us and we will help.
Changes
If we change this policy, we will update the date above. If the changes are significant, we will let you know in the app or by email.
